RSDI - Retirement, Survivors and Disability Insurance

RSDI is similar to an insurance program. You are eligible for social security disability benefits if you are defined as disabled by the Social Security Administration (SSA), covered under the law and have paid social security taxes for a sufficient amount of time.

The definitions for disability are the same for both RSDI and SSI. The only difference is the limitations on income and assets in the SSI program. If you are eligible for RSDI and your benefit amount is low enough, you can also receive SSI concurrent with RSDI.
